Würzburg Weekend Package Itinerary (May 23-25, 2025)

Day 1 – Friday, May 23, 2025
Arrive in the beautiful city and check into your accommodation. Time-permitting, take a leisurely stroll along the town squares and the Old Main Bridge (Alte Mainbrücke). Lined with statues of saints, the bridge offers beautiful views of the city and connects the old town with the Marienberg Fortress. Perched on a hill overlooking the Main River, Marienberg Fortress is a symbol of Würzburg’s history.

Würzburg’s Old Town is a delight to explore with its narrow cobblestone streets, medieval buildings, and lively market squares. The Market Square (Marktplatz) and the Cathedral Square (Domplatz) are central hubs with charming cafes, restaurants, and shops.

Not to be missed in the Old Town: The Würzburg Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important baroque palaces in Europe. Explore the beautiful gardens, the opulent interior and the impressive frescoes by the Venetian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo.

Mozartfest 2025 dates TBC – As part of the Mozart Festival, concerts are being held in the Würzburg Residence. Ticket prices start from 11,-EUR and we can help you buy tickets (subject to availability).

Please note: Würzburg is easily accessible from Frankfurt, Nürnberg or Munich airports by train (approx. 1.5-2 hours). Central station is close to the town and your hotel will be walking distance from the train station and main attractions. The Flixbus also connects Würzburg with cities including Munich and Hamburg. If you need any support with arranging train or bus tickets, please get in touch with us.

Day 2 – Saturday, May 24, 2025
This morning after breakfast, you will embark on a ferry to visit Veitshöchheim Palace and Court Garden, one of the most important Rococo gardens in Germany. Located only 8km down the river Main from Würzburg, the Palace until 1802 was the summer residence of the Würzburg prince-bishops.

After visiting the Palace and its garden, you’ll take the relaxing ferry ride to return to Würzburg just in time for the afternoon events in town: kids races, Mozart Day, pasta party, or visit the sights you have missed the day before.

The Main River adds to Würzburg’s charm, and riverside parks like the “Alter Kranen” offer pleasant spots for a leisurely stroll or a picnic.

Day 3 – Sunday 25 May 2025RACE DAY
Your hotel is ideally located to the starting point of the Würzburg Marathon, in fact only100 meters. Participate in the race of your choice today. If you are interested in running a relay marathon, we’ll help you group with participants registered by us.

After the race, it’s time for late check-out latest by 3:30 pm. If you can however, we recommend you stay a night longer (advance notice required, subject to availability).
