Nibelungenlauf Worms Germany

Note: Our standard Nibelungenlauf Worms epic weekend package is designed to include both active and leisurely experiences on your race weekend.

Worms is not just any ordinary city. It holds the titles of being a cathedral city, a Lutheran city, the oldest city in Germany and the setting of the famous Song of the Nibelungs. If you want to make the best out of the city, join the Nibelungenlauf on the weekend of September 7th/8th, 2024! Combining sports and culture, this event is a must for running enthusiasts or anyone who is ready to get off the couch! Then, there is even a walker’s category for you to enjoy!

Worms Germany in a Nutshell

Throughout its long history, Worms has witnessed countless events that have shaped its identity. One of the most significant moments took place in 1521 when Martin Luther fearlessly defended his 95 theses before the Diet of Worms. This single act shattered the unity of the Church forever.

If you take a stroll through the city’s marketplace, you’ll come across a fascinating wheel of fortune that symbolizes the city’s rollercoaster-like journey through time. It’s like taking a whirlwind tour of Worms’ rich history. And let’s not forget the perpetual disagreement between Kriemhild and Brunhild, two legendary figures who seem to never see eye to eye.

From St. Peter’s Cathedral to the Luther Monument and the Jewish cemetery “Holy Sands” to name some, there are plentiful historical sights in the city of Worms to delve into the history. Nature lovers can enjoy the city’s many parks and picnic areas along the River Rhine, take a bike tour along the river or a boat tour on the river. Worms is certainly a gem and a perfect weekend getaway destination.

Bonus event: Fleckenmauer Medieval Festival

Every four years, the Fleckenmauerfest takes place in Flörsheim-Dalsheim, a medieval spectacle, which only about 12 km away from Worms. In 2020 it was cancelled due to Corona, but now in 2024 it will take place on the exact same weekend from September 06 to 08, 2024.
