Nibelungenlauf Worms Germany
Worms Germany in a Nutshell
Throughout its long history, Worms has witnessed countless events that have shaped its identity. One of the most significant moments took place in 1521 when Martin Luther fearlessly defended his 95 theses before the Diet of Worms. This single act shattered the unity of the Church forever.
If you take a stroll through the city’s marketplace, you’ll come across a fascinating wheel of fortune that symbolizes the city’s rollercoaster-like journey through time. It’s like taking a whirlwind tour of Worms’ rich history. And let’s not forget the perpetual disagreement between Kriemhild and Brunhild, two legendary figures who seem to never see eye to eye.
From St. Peter’s Cathedral to the Luther Monument and the Jewish cemetery “Holy Sands” to name some, there are plentiful historical sights in the city of Worms to delve into the history. Nature lovers can enjoy the city’s many parks and picnic areas along the River Rhine, take a bike tour along the river or a boat tour on the river. Worms is certainly a gem and a perfect weekend getaway destination.
